A cellar well set

Design architect and the “father” of My Wine Design, Martins Pilens shows us around his airy and light wine cellar

H9, private cellar in Hadersdorf am Kamp, Austria

If wine is your passion and work, then moving to a wine region is a logical decision. The next step? Setting up your private wine cellar, so you can truly embrace the wine lifestyle.

Interestingly enough, this wine cellar found its home under an old 16th-century building, in a house once owned by the town’s doctor. It had never been used as a wine cellar before, it was just a big dark wet space where the previous owner had installed a heating system. Once the house was taken over by family Pilens, restoration and rebuilding could start.

Now it is a cellar divided into 4 divisions, where one of the most impressive sections is the CHAMPAGNE room, boasting a wide selection of grower champagnes. The owner admits that his modern wine cellar is very well received by guests, especially those wine lovers who value timeless design.
